ImageSoulformation Liquid Spirits will release their second album ‘Music’ in November 2008. Previously they released a 4 track 10” Vinyl in june. Liquid Spirits consists of 8 members, including 4 leadsingers; amongst also features of the legendary Leon Ware and Little Brother rapper Phonte. Songwriters and producers of Lalah Hathaway and bandmembers of Daughters of Soul heading for a international break-through.

Producers Manuel Hugas and Wiboud Burkens and the six other members of Liquid Spirits wrote a tribute to soul music. Their new album “MUSIC”, again released on the highly renowned record label Kindred Spirits shows a variety of soultracks; from hiphop-soul (ft Little Brother Phonte and Melodee- La Melodia - to sixties and seventies influenced songs, all produced in a contemporary deep sound.

Their love for American soulmusic started to reflect in 2000 when they collaborated with singers as N’Dambi, Carleen Anderson, Leon Ware, Michael Franti and Sandra st. Victor. Sandra initiated the Daughters of Soul; daughters of soullegends like Lalah Hathaway (daughter of Donny), Indira Kahn (daughter of Chaka), Simone (daughter of Nina Simone), Deniece Williams and Nona Hendryx. Accompanied by Liquid Spirits they toured all over the world.

Manuel Hugas (bass) and Wiboud Burkens (keyboards) produced exclusively for Lalah Hathaway a song for her album “Self Portrait” (released 2008). The four leadvocals give Liquid Spirits their unique sound, based on a layer of deep grooves: hiphop-soul tracks inspired by Tribe Called Quest and JayDee (“If You Don't Love Me”, “No One”), sixties and seventies flavours influenced by Charles Stepney & Minnie Ripperton and Leon Ware (“Stepney”, “Music”, Melodies”) and contemporary soul (“Higher Ground”, “Say It Ain't So”, “Sacred State of Mind”). Mastered in New York by Will Quinnell makes “Music” a unique one of a kind.

Ellen  - Great Interview And Music |68.96.253.xxx |2008-10-13 11:07:20
Thank you for the introduction to Liquid Spirits. It was interesting to hear how each song is made. In this day of"hurry up and put something out" whether good or not, it is refreshing to know this group takes the quality of their music seriously. This shows in the wonderful songs on the playlist. "Heavenly is my favorite :)
I was pleased to hear you talking about backing instruments as well. Whether it is a softly played piano or strings building to a crescendo, the listener feels and reacts to it all.
The depth of your interviews has been excellent Souly.
Much Respect,
Ellen 8)
